| The Delaware-Lackawanna is a subsidiary of GVT Rail, a group of shortlines, based in Batavia, New York. Trackage operated by the D-L is owned by the Lackawanna and Monroe County Rail Authorities. The Pocono Main track is the flagship route of the DL. Stretching a distance of about 60 miles from Scranton to Portland PA this line sees daily use by multiple trains. Local trains, Grain Trains, Steamtown excursions and the famed "Portland Turn" road job operate over all or some of this track. The DL also operates 22 miles of former D&H trackage between Carbon Junction and Carbondale Pennsylvania. There is another 6 miles of the former Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley RR trackage operated as the "Laurel Line". Industrial and local tracks connect all three of the major routes mentioned. Additionally the D-L operates, via trackage rights, over the Canadian Pacific Railway between Bridge 60 and Carbon Junction, including Taylor Yard, a distance of about 4 miles. The DL Rosters a diverse collection of ALCo and MLW built locomotives. This power ranges from a 900 HP S6 switcher to monstrous 3600 6-axle road diesels. While the staff and crews of the DL have a reputation as a friendly bunch, it must be remembered that the DL is a functioning, thriving railroad and does not exist for the solely for the enjoyment of the railfan community. Neither the DL, nor this webpage support or condone trespassing on railroad property. There are, however, many scenic locations where DL trains may be photographed from public property and you'll almost always get a friendly wave from a passing train crew. |

| Foreign Power: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Delaware-Lackawanna Railway, under an agreement with Canadian Pacific, operates unit grain trains between Scranton and Pocono Summit, PA. Until early 2008 these trains were mostly lead by foreign power, such as the ever-present SD-40-2 from CP Rail. Also, rare glimpses of NS Train 41 T detoured over the DL. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
