On the Old D&H
The Carbondale line, formerly the DL Penn Division Main, stretches some 19 miles from Scranton to Carbondale.  About a dozen customers keep this line viable and in daily use.  The occasional Steamtown Excursion will venture along this line from Scranton using "Strawberry Hill", a re-activated connector between the DL&W Yard and the D&H Main.  Prior to that, any excursion bound for Carbondale would need to traverse the CP Mainline several miles south through Taylor to Carbon Junction to reach the former Penn Division.
NKP 514 haeds up a Santa Run in 2005, seen here at the North end of the line in Carbondale. Just South of Carbondale proper, BLW 26 pauses after lifting a train North from Scranton in 1998. NKP 514 is heading south through Winton Township in November of 2005.
Severl newly constructed stations dot the Carbondale Line, such as this structure in Archbald, seen in 2003. CP 2317 operated on several excursions on the former D&H during 2003.  It is seen here in Olyphant, PA The 2317 is see in the Greenridge section of Scranton passing a former railroad hotel, now a private home.
Prior to the restoration of Strawberry Hill, the BLW 26 is seen during an overnight layover in South Scranton prior to an excursion in 1998.
The reactivated Strawberry Hill connection allows Steamtown easy access to the former D&H.  The 2317 is returning to Steamtown in this 2003 scene.
